DMTO technology is used methanol as the reactant to produce light olefins, such as ethylene and propylene for the further production of PE and PP. Ethylene and propylene are the basic materials of petroleum chemicals. At present, the production of olefin is mainly used the hydrocarbon oil as the raw materials, especially the naphtha. Other raw materials include paraffin, diesel hydrotreating, some heavy oil, and so on. To light hydrocarbon naphtha as raw materials and water Cracker is the main channels for the production of low-carbon olefin, its products mainly to ethylene, propylene-product. Low-carbon olefin production scale is a measure of a national petrochemical industry and economic development level of signs. As China''''s sustained and rapid development of the national economy, the demand for low-carbon olefin will be also increasing.
 DMTO technology has a long history of R&D for almost 20 years with the sufficient support of theoretical foundation. The MTO research in global began in the period of oil crisis last century. “The new process method of syngas via DME to light olefins” was awarded the “Eighth Five-year” National Key S & T Project achievement and Extraordinary Grade of CAS Award for S & T Progress in 1996. “Catalyst improvement of methanol(DME)to olefin” was awarded CAS “Ninth Five-year” Major Project.
 In 2006, cooperated with LPEC and Shaanxi New Coal Chemical Science & Technology Development Co., Ltd. (Xinxing), DICP have been accomplished the 10KTA-scale industrial experiment in the word. National level approval has been passed in the news release conference in the Great Hall of the People on August 24th. It has been regarded as the first 10kta-scale MTO industrial experiment unit, and it was the innovative technology with complete intellectual property rights. The unit scale and the technical indicators ware in a leading position in the world.  
 DICP has been in the leader in the world during continuous MTO research for over twenty years. At present, DMTO have applied for and been authorized by more than 40 patents, including three U.S. patents and one European patent, with independent intellectual property rights is a patent proprietary technology.
